Aims and Principles
Citizens Advice Swale is a charitable company limited by guarantee, serving the communities of Faversham, Sheppey and Sittingbourne and the surrounding countryside – a population of more than 130,000 living in a deprived area of North Kent.
Objects of the Charity
The objects of the Charity are to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the community in Swale and the neighbourhood thereof (“the area of benefit”), by the advancement of education, the protection and preservation of health and the relief of poverty, sickness and distress.
We are a member of Citizens Advice, the national association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, all of whose members adhere to the following aims and principles.
Aims
The aims of Citizens Advice Swale are:
- To ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities or of the services available to them, or through an inability to express their needs effectively and equally
- To exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
Principles
The service is independent and provides free, confidential and impartial advice to everybody regardless of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age or nationality.
